I am a wallet hoarder! I am. I change my wallets often to suit my ever changing wants. For that reason, I make what I like. I happen to know several people like me as well. When I was asked to create this as a smaller version of my card slot wallet, I agreed. Turns out, I like the simplicity of it.
Watch the video and follow along to make the 4 x 4 wallet. I mention how to alter it if you choose. To get started, here are the fabric pieces to cut:
2 outer fabrics 5" x 9" with Interface 4" x 8"
2 inner fabrics (for bills side and card slot lining) 4 1/2" x 9" with interface 4" x 8"
2 inner fabrics (for accordion card slots) 4 1/2" x 15 1/2" with interface 3 1/2" x 14 1/2"
2 inner fabrics 4"1/4 x 4 1/4" for backs of accordion card slots
Optional tab closure fabric 2 x 5 1/2 (and interface)
** You may want to watch the video to decide how to use these inner fabrics!
Other supplies you will need:
Snap closure
coordinating thread
You will notice, on the video, I suggested placing the snap closure tab a bit higher than I placed it in the video. I have made several of these and I am not sure why I placed it where I did, : ), probably working upside down, but .... I showed my mistake, instead of redoing the video. Showing you that simple mistake will show you what NOT to do. : ) I never claim to be a professional, right?!
OK ... let me know if you have questions. Get to sewing!

ReplyDeleteVery good tutorial, Nikki. Thanks for measurements. Very important.
ReplyDeleteI did the same, but I bought a pattern for western shirt with the yoke, snaps, etc.! I had a hard time reading the pattern, still do! That was 35 years ago. Now I am brave enough to tackle anything! What I was getting at is if someone is having a hard time with understanding patterns, like me! STILL! Just find something similair that you have already have and everytime theres a step to follow, just really study and look at all the seams. That's how I learned to sew, also long before you tube! Thanks to all the people on here teaching folks to sew. I wish more people would try it. Its my therapy! Thank you Nikki I'm going to do this with pendelton fabric and leather, wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteNikki l love all the things you make, thanks DD Rojas
